Sneak peek of 'The way we wore'

Hey do you wanna buy a book?
The brief: 'Marketing your wares'
Make and sell 20 (minimum) artist books/fanzine on any subject of your choosing.
We made a limited edition book featuring clothes from your childhood transformed for the catwalk. Design & layout & all things graphics by yours truly. Illustrations by Abbie.

We've worked seriously hard on this project and I think it's all paid off. Hopefully it'll all be worth it and we'll get the mark we feel like we've earnt on Friday morning. Hours/days of sitting on InDesign has been a pain in the bum but that's what you have to do if you want to make good work. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so when it comes to things like this it's both good and bad. I'm good at getting things exactly where I want them/in line/making relationships with other elements etc but I'm also good at picking tiny things I didn't get quite right or that I'd changed. Difficult when you're judging your own work though really.

Saying that though, I am super proud of this. I feel like I've actually done a good job of the design and layouts. I really do enjoy layouts and making double page spreads.

Graphic design forever!

'Love letter to type' pt 1

The brief: create 2 posters promoting 2 different typefaces to the type foundry 'Linotype'. The typefaces are the only source of visual material, 1 poster needs to be in black and white, the other in colour.
Required elements
Each poster must contain:
• some kind of image/illustration made from the typeface itself
• a full sample font including upper and lower case and numerals
• the full text about your chosen font
• you must use no typeface other than the one you have chosen but
you can explore the whole family – different sizes, weights, italics etc.

We were given 10 typefaces to choose from for this brief. I chose 'Univers' and 'Garamond' as I felt they contrasted well and were good typefaces for me to work with. I really enjoy layout so this was a good project for me. Below is my final design for 'Univers', I was really pleased with it. I like the colours and the contrast between the cool and warm tones.
